Standard Tap Steel Canopy
901 N 2nd Street
Northern Liberties, Philadelphia, PA
Status: Completed in January 2011
This project consists of a new roof canopy over an existing roof deck at the Standard Tap restaurant in the Northern Liberties. The canopy affords 3-season dining within an open-air structure. The design incorporates elements of the neighborhood’s mixed-use commercial history, drawing upon the tradition of local industrial-era iron structures.
The main structure is ornamental steel, with traditional hot-rivet joinery and a wood plank roof deck with copper roofing. Operable steel framed clerestory lights allow for day lighting and natural ventilation. At the west, a green roof will cover the dining terrace.
